Teacher Roundtables

After-school receptions and dinners followed by presentations by experts on important current affairs topics, with the opportunity for extensive dialogue with speakers and the chance to visit with peers. This program is typically held at the Rivers Club in downtown Pittsburgh.

Past topics include:

  • Defining the U.S. Relationship with the United Nations in the 21st Century
  • Transnational Threats and Security Challenges
  • Iran’s Nuclear Ambitions
  • Foreign Policy Challenges for Europe and the U.S. in the Greater Middle East
  • Promoting Democracy Abroad: Strategies and Pitfalls
  • Assessing Global Trends

Thank you for a wonderful experience.  The event was my first with the World Affairs Council and it was very enriching for me. The speakers’ information was great and I used it the next day in my classes.  These kinds of opportunities are so rare for teachers and I was very impressed by the quality and professionalism of the event.  The speakers gave a lot of insight into topics that we don’t get to hear about regularly.  Being at tables of teachers was also nice for me so that I could network and hear other perspectives.
